Fragrant and peaceful gardens are a popular romantic setting for weddings and receptions. Sometimes the garden is in the back yard of the bride’s or groom’s family. So when John and Lissa King Sumption’s son got married in June 2000, it was perfectly natural to hold the reception at the Sumption home in Longville.

Later the Sumptions hosted another family wedding. At both occasions, many guests said it was so nicely done “you should do this as a business!”

And so a new family-owned business, The King Gardens, began.

The Sumption home sits on 27 acres that include an apple orchard, the farm where John grew up and, of course, the gardens.

The grounds include a waterscape with two waterfalls and ponds with fish, a shade garden path with ivy and rose-covered arbors, numerous gardens with flowers always in bloom, and manicured lawn areas. Ample parking is also available.
